Andrew is a Fellow of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and certified member of the European Society of Endodontology. He is an experienced dentist with a wealth of experience in managing complex endodontic cases and cases of failing root canal treatment. In addition to referral endodontic treatment at Kingston Park, Andrew also lectures to other dentists and postgraduate students throughout the North East about advances in endodontics. He has a Postgraduate Diploma in Restorative Dentistry with the Royal College of Surgeons (England) with a special interest in Endodontics.

 

In 2013, he was awarded the Diploma of Membership in Primary Care Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. This qualification recognises excellence in general dental surgery and Andrew is one of only an handful of dentists in the UK to have been successful in this examination.  In 2016, he graduated from the University of Leeds with a Masters degree in Restorative Dentistry, passing with distinction.

In October 2017, Andrew was elected as a Fellow of Faculty of Dental Surgery at The Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (FDS RCSEd). This was awarded after examination and assessment and is internationally acknowledged as the highest College award in Dentistry.

Andrew was appointed to the Royal College of Surgeons (Ed) Advisory Board in Primary Dental care for a four year term from January 2020. He is as an examiner for the Membership in Advanced General Dental Surgery and Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.

 

He sees private patients for routine care and maintenance in addition to accepting complex cases on referral from dentists throughout the North East region (and beyond), working with a state of the art operating microscope.

Andrew has delivered lectures on numerous topics including root canal treatment, restoring heavily filled teeth, endodontic re-treatments and surgical endodontics.

Medico-legal

​

Mr Gemmell is happy to see patients for dental rehabilitation on a private basis. The medico-legal report would normally have been completed prior to a referral to  Mr Gemmell for treatment planning, quotation and treatment. We routinely see patients on referral from throughout the North East and there are hotels in the vicinity of the practice should patients travel from further afield.
