Dr Alexander Howell


Xander qualified from the University of Manchester in 2012. Following this he undertook a two year training programme at Newcastle Dental Hospital working with specialists in Paediatrics, Oral Surgery and Restorative Dentistry. At the end of this training programme in 2014 he was awarded the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners prize for his completed portfolio.


He then spent a year working with the Oral and Maxillofacial team at Sunderland Royal Hospital, working in A&E, on the wards and in theatre. Here he carried out difficult surgical extractions, managed facial trauma and assisted with operations to remove oral cancers, further developing his oral surgery skills


He has completed a postgraduate masters degree in endodontics (MSc Endo) which is the branch of dentistry specifically involved in keeping the tissues inside the tooth alive and healthy or treating disease of the tissues inside the tooth which often cause toothache. 


He became a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons at the Royal College in Edinburgh in 2014 and is a member of the British Endodontic Society. He is a published author on the topics of Dental Education and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery


Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his wife Helen and two children, Rory (aged 4) and Imogen (aged 2), and his small flock of chickens!
